Public Speaking Coaching

Speak up with ease

What does ‘public speaking’ mean?

Anywhere you need to speak in front of other humans – in person or online, live or recorded – is public speaking.

You find yourself with public speaking opportunities all the time. It’s more than standing on stage in front of hundreds of people. It can be speaking up in a work meeting, having a challenging conversation with a family member, getting your ideas across in a brainstorming session, and much more.

Let’s start making the most of those opportunities.

How could public speaking coaching help you?

Imagine a life where you can speak up with ease. You can learn how.

Make your points well and engage your audience. Learn to listen and respond.

Feel heard.

“A wonderful way of inspiring confidence”

“Erin has a wonderful way of inspiring confidence and making you realise that you can do it, and you can do it well.”

“Erin is an inspiration! I initially met Erin briefly when I was a guest at a Toastmasters club, she made an impression from only one meeting, so when I saw that she was putting on a public speaking course in Brooklyn, I jumped at the chance! The course exceeded my expectations.

Erin has a wonderful way of inspiring confidence and making you realise that you can do it, and you can do it well. If you get the opportunity to attend a public speaking course run by Erin, do it!”

“You GET to speak… breathe.”

“My anxiety kicked, and I felt like running out the door right away. BUT I heard this voice in my head saying “you GET to speak.. breathe”.”

“I’ve just started a job and last week there was a department meeting. Turns out there were hundreds of people there. And the Head of Department started off saying “ohh we’d like to introduce the newcomers”. My anxiety kicked, and I felt like running out the door right away.

BUT I heard this voice in my head saying “you GET to speak.. breathe”. The Head asked if anybody wanted to start and I jumped off my chair raising my hand. I was shaking, my voice was shaking when I started speaking but I told them your advice, “Somebody taught me last week, not everybody gets to speak…” After that I kicked into Toastmaster mode! Did a bit of a sales pitch of my group and my team and threw in some jokes that everybody loved.

I later found out that people in my group rarely speak up or attend these sessions, some of them didn’t get up, my manager and two layers above were really impressed, the Head of Department came over to hug me and my manager’s manager was proud; apparently I was trying to get the voice out of our unit.

Anyways, thanks for your words. I had so much fun in my short public speaking experience and achievement last week.”

“Well worth the time”

“Erin is my go-to person when I’m preparing a presentation. It’s easy for presenters to suffer from ‘the curse of knowledge’.”

“Erin is my go-to person when I’m preparing a presentation. It’s easy for presenters to suffer from ‘the curse of knowledge’. Erin adds value by listening, checking, and asking astute questions from an audience point of view. Well worth the time.”

How can improving my public speaking improve my life?

If you feel comfortable speaking in public, a stress you might have previously carried is under your control. You’ll feel more freedom and you might even start enjoying yourself.

It will be simpler for you to get your message across and you’ll have more idea of how to listen to others.

Together, we’ll work on the puzzle of what’s causing that stress and I’ll give you tools to deal with it. You might even make friends with that fear and turn it into a useful part of you.

Sounds like you know a lot! We can work on how to choose pertinent information from what you know and turn it into something your audience can follow.

You are some of my favourite people! We’ll start with delving into what your brain is doing to you, then give you some exercises to get back the calm control you want. Nerves when speaking in public can be turned to your advantage so don’t be afraid of your fear.

I’ve been a Toastmaster since 2010 and I am the 2013 and the 2025 District Evaluation Champion, which means I’m very good at seeing what’s working in a presentation or presentation style, and what it would be useful to improve.

I’ve run many speaking courses for my Toastmasters clubs and under my own name for corporates, government and the general public.

One-on-one coaching is NZ$130 per 60-minute session.

A package of five one-to-one sessions is NZ$650 and must be used within six months of purchase. This keeps up the momentum of coaching for you.

If you would like a course for multiple people, please contact me directly to discuss your needs and a price.

Either. We can meet on Zoom or in person. I do not work from an office in person but I’m happy for us to agree on a place to meet.
