Emotional and Stress-Eating
Look past the food

Obviously, emotional / stress / comfort eating involves food. When you eat for those reasons, the food can become central to your thinking. Sometimes, a good way round that is to fill your thoughts with other things.
Take some time to notice non-food good things in your life.
[Ooops, I was just about to use the example of a lovely bottle of home-made elderflower cordial a friend gave me today, and I realised that it was ‘food’!]
Here are some others:
· The feeling of sitting down and taking the weight off your feet. Pay attention to how reducing that pressure feels.
· Finding a brilliant gift for someone and feeling the anticipation of giving it to them.
· Having longer days to enjoy the sun.
· Someone letting you go ahead of them into a line of cars.
· Dad jokes that are so bad you have to laugh.
· Getting good wishes from people far away.
Really feel the goodness in those things and let your brain take more than a few moments away from food noise.
