Emotional and Stress-Eating, Life Coaching

Feel your feelings

Feel your feelings. Ten eggs sit in a plastic tray. They have faces drawn on them that show different emotions.

Feeling your feelings is key to understanding yourself.

I coach some seriously bright, intellectual women around emotional and stress-eating, and I love it. They very quickly understand and extend the concepts we explore together. And they can get far on that approach.

But the women who move the needle the most find out that words only get you so far. You also need to give yourself space to feel your feelings and sit with them. Only then do you find the thoughts and beliefs that underpin them. Then the real work starts: the work that will make a sustainable difference to your approach to food. The work you have to experience rather than read about.

I will forever be grateful to one of my first clients in this space. When I asked what had happened when she had previously sought help for this issue, she told me that, eventually, she was always cleverer than the person trying to help her. Intellectually, it would have been hard for that not to have happened because she has an extraordinary brain.

Using your brain is only half the answer. If you find yourself reading widely about emotional and stress-eating, taking online courses, and collecting shelves of information, and you’re still wondering why you know what to do but you’re not doing it, call me and see if we can find what’s beneath the words.
