Emotional and Stress-Eating

Imagine your success

A powerful tool for change is to be able to envisage yourself as the person you want to be. Imagine your success.

When someone wants to recover from emotional or stress-eating, it can be useful for them to write a letter from the future – say, a year or two from now – from a version of themselves who has succeeded.

It’s an exercise in imagination. You do it without asking ‘how will I get there?’ It’s just ‘who do I want to be?’

Keep the letter and read it to yourself often. It helps to cement where you want to go into your subconscious.

If you have some slip-ups on the way, ask yourself these two questions:
· What’s important now?
· What’s important next?
Deal with what’s in front of you with an eye on where you want to go.
